CONCEPT FAMILY HOME
LOCATION: DE PINTE
CONTEXT: INTERNSHIP STUDIO MOWK, THIRD YEAR BACHELOR INTERIOR DESIGN
During my internship at Studio Mowk, I had the opportunity to work out the concept of a family home, in collaboration with my internship supervisor. The brief included the design of the sitting and dining area and the kitchen. Among other things, I made these images to explain the concept to the clients.
The first important element of the program was tranquillity. Still, we had suggested colorful details to add dynamism and a playfulness to the interior, without undercutting the tranquility. The two accent colours are inspired on the clients. The green refers to their love of nature. The red refers to Guatemalan traditional rugs, the country they have a strong connection to. Secondly, they have many books: they asked to incorporate them into all areas of the living space. So they became part, among others, of the seating and kitchen unit. The wall connecting the dining and sitting areas became a book wall. The dining area is quite spacious: with the book wall, the space would evoke a warmer atmosphere. Furthermore, we wanted to strengthen the link between the dining and sitting areas. In our concept, the doors are incorporated into the book wall so that it visually forms a unity. The seat is also incorporated into the wall for the same reason.
Furthermore, I elaborated and visualized a design together with my internship supervisor. As a last assignment of my internship, I had the chance to present this design to the clients.
